A two-form entry Primary School in Cannock is seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026 through to December 2026. This is a part-time HLTA position, covering classes across KS1 and KS2, offering valuable experience across all primary age groups. In this Higher Level Teaching Assistant role, you will play an important part in ensuring continuity of learning by leading whole-class sessions in the absence of the class teacher. You will deliver pre-prepared lessons, manage classroom behaviour, and support pupils’ engagement and progress across a broad curriculum. This role is ideal for newly qualified teachers looking to build confidence across different key stages, or for experienced educators seeking a more flexible and manageable workload.

As an HLTA, your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering pre-planned lessons across KS1 and KS2 in the absence of the class teacher
- Managing classroom behaviour effectively and promoting a positive learning environment
- Supporting pupils’ learning and engagement across a variety of subjects
- Adapting teaching approaches to meet the needs of all learners, including those with additional needs
- Working closely with teaching staff to ensure consistency and continuity across classes
- Providing feedback on pupil progress and classroom activities
To be successful in this HLTA role, you will need:
- HLTA status or equivalent qualification/experience
- Previous experience covering classes within a primary school setting
- Strong behaviour management skills and confidence leading a class
- A flexible and adaptable approach to working across all primary year groups
- A proactive and positive attitude towards supporting learning
