We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and organised SENDCo to work across SEN schools within the South Birmingham area. These will be full-time positions, working Monday to Friday from 8:15am until 3:30pm. The role will focus heavily on the administrative and coordination side of SEND provision, and we are looking for someone who is confident managing a busy workload while ensuring all SEND processes are completed efficiently and in line with statutory requirements.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing and overseeing SEND provision and documentation across SEN schools within the South Birmingham area
- Coordinating EHCP reviews, annual reviews, consultation paperwork, and maintaining accurate SEND records
- Completing and managing general SEND administration and statutory documentation in line with deadlines
- Liaising with parents, carers, external agencies, leadership teams, and teaching staff to support pupil outcomes
- Supporting the implementation and monitoring of SEND support plans and interventions
- Providing guidance and support to staff regarding SEND processes and pupil needs
- Monitoring pupil progress and ensuring appropriate support is in place across the schools
- Supporting with occasional teaching duties where required within SEN classrooms
- Working collaboratively with SEN Teachers, Teaching Assistants, and senior leaders to ensure high-quality provision
- Ensuring compliance with SEND policies, procedures, and local authority requirements
Required Skills and Experience for this SENDCo Role:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or SENDCo qualification
- Experience in roles such as SENCo, SLD Teacher, SEND Teacher, or Inclusion Coordinator
- Strong understanding of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, including SLD and ASD
- Experience working in a special school, PRU, or inclusive mainstream setting
- Familiarity with strategies for managing behaviour and supporting children with emotional and behavioural challenges
- Good understanding of SEND legislation, policies, and procedures
- Strong IT and administrative skills, including maintaining accurate pupil records and reports
- Strong knowledge of EHCP processes, annual reviews, and SEND documentation
- Previous experience working within a SENDCo or SEN administration role
- A nurturing, empathetic, and flexible teaching style
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
- Up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding practices
