Flourish Education are currently recruiting Science Graduates to work as Teaching Assistants and Cover Supervisors within welcoming secondary schools across South Birmingham and the surrounding areas. You will have the opportunity to work with pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4, develop your classroom skills and gain an insight into a career in teaching. As a Science Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils through one‑to‑one and small‑group Science interventions. This could involve supporting the new Year 7 cohort, delivering GCSE booster and revision sessions, or working with identified pupils who require additional support with their learning.
There may also be opportunities to undertake some whole‑class cover in a Cover Supervisor capacity, providing you with further valuable classroom experience and the opportunity to develop your behaviour management, communication and lesson delivery skills.
The role will involve:
- Providing one‑to‑one and small‑group Science support
- Supporting pupils across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4
- Delivering targeted Science interventions
- Supporting GCSE Science revision and booster sessions
- Helping pupils develop confidence and engagement in Science
- Supporting pupils with SEN and additional learning needs
- Assisting pupils to access the curriculum and overcome barriers to learning
- Working alongside teachers, the SENDCo and wider school staff
- Building positive and professional relationships with pupils
- Supporting classroom learning and, where required, providing whole‑class cover
Required Skills and Experience for this Science Graduate Teaching Assistant role:
- Science degree or related subject
- UK school experience
- Experience working with KS3 and KS4 pupils
- Experience supporting pupils with SEN
- Experience delivering 1:1, small‑group or learning interventions
- Strong behaviour management and communication skills
- Ability to motivate and engage pupils
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils
- Commitment to supporting pupil progress

Working for Flourish Education as a Teaching Assistant, you will receive:
- £92.59 to £100 day rate, which equates to approximately £17,340 to £19,500 per annum based on working 5 days a week for a full school year
