Flourish Education are recruiting for an RS Specialist to join a welcoming secondary school in Edgbaston, Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate and dedicated RS Specialist to cover a staff sabbatical throughout the spring term, teaching Religious Studies across Years 8, 9, 11, 12 and 13.
The successful RS Specialist will ideally work Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, although there is some flexibility around the combination of days and year groups for the right candidate. The role will involve teaching GCSE Religious Studies following the AQA curriculum, covering Christianity and Islam, alongside A Level Edexcel Philosophy and/or Ethics.
Job Role
- Deliver engaging Religious Studies lessons across Years 8, 9, 11, 12 and 13
- Teach GCSE Religious Studies following the AQA curriculum
- Cover Christianity and Islam at GCSE level
- Teach A Level Philosophy and/or Ethics following the Edexcel curriculum
- Support pupils with revision and checking understanding
- Build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Work Wednesday, Thursday and Friday where possible, with flexibility around the timetable where required
Required Skills and Experience
- RS Specialist, Religious Studies Teacher, Secondary Teacher, RS ECT or Supply Teacher
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Early Career Teacher (ECT)
- Strong subject knowledge in Religious Studies
- Experience teaching Religious Studies at GCSE and/or A Level
- Knowledge of the AQA GCSE curriculum
- Knowledge of Edexcel A Level Philosophy and/or Ethics
- Ability to support pupils with revision and examination preparation
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
