Hours: 30–40 hours per week (minimum 30 hours). Some weekend working required, including at least one weekend day per week, to ensure visibility across the full team.
Salary: £17.27 per hour (£34,130 per annum based on 38 hours per week)

Job Purpose: The Café Team Manager is responsible for building, developing and leading a high-performing, motivated and values-led café team. This role has a strong emphasis on:
- Coaching and development

The postholder will ensure that all café team members, including young and early-career staff, are supported, developed and managed in a fair, consistent and inspiring way. While maintaining visibility during service and leading shifts within the café, this role is primarily focused on people leadership rather than operational stock control or ordering responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage and develop all café Front of House and Kitchen staff
- Conduct regular 1:1 meetings and performance reviews
- Set clear expectations for behaviour, standards and accountability
- Support team members with training and skills development
- Identify talent and nurture progression opportunities
- Build a positive, inclusive and motivating team culture
Performance & Standards
- Address performance concerns constructively and promptly
- Support staff with clear feedback and development plans
- Ensure excellent customer service standards are upheld
- Model exemplary service by working shifts within the café to support the team
Training & Engagement
- Design and implement training plans for new and existing staff
- Lead regular team meetings and development conversations
- Create a culture of learning, ownership and pride within the café
- Model empathy, professionalism and emotional intelligence
- Work closely with the Café Team Supervisor to ensure operational systems support the team effectively
- Partner with the Trading Manager and People & HR Coordinator on recruitment and staffing matters
- Maintain visibility across weekday and weekend teams to build trust and cohesion
- Support implementation of customer journey and service standards across the café

- Proven experience managing and developing teams in hospitality or a similar fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal and emotional intelligence skills
- Confident handling performance management conversations
