As a Consultant Psychiatrist in Liaison Psychiatry based at Tunbridge Wells Hospital and Maidstone Hospital in Kent, you will be responsible for delivering a high-quality clinical service and actively involved in the strategic development of the team and broader services. Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is a large acute hospital trust providing a full range of general hospital services to around 500,000 people living in the South of West Kent and parts of North East Sussex. The Liaison Psychiatry Service provides a single point of contact for the mental health needs of patients attending the Emergency Department or admitted to the general hospital. In this role, you will be working jointly with another Consultant Liaison Psychiatrist and share operational and clinical leadership to ensure that the sites are suitably covered. Key Responsibilities: To provide psychiatric care to patients referred to the Liaison Psychiatry Service. To provide professional leadership including clinical supervision to the medical team and to provide clinical leadership to the Liaison Multidisciplinary Team. To ensure effective liaison occurs between mental health services and the acute hospital, and also with other agencies in the voluntary and statutory sectors as appropriate. To act as a Responsible Clinician (Approved Clinician status) for patients detained under the MHA to the acute trust. Successful applicants will ideally have MRCPsych or equivalent and be on, or within six months of inclusion on, the Specialist Register. You will be fully registered with the GMC, and have Approved Clinician status and S12 approval under the Mental Health Act (or achieve this within 3 months of appointment).
