Maintenance Engineer (Food Manufacturing)

Location: Milton Keynes
Contract Type: Permanent
Starting Salary: Between £35k-£42k per annum plus night shift allowance of £2,132 per annum, with potential for growth as training progresses.
Hours: Full Time, Some initial variations will occur depending on the production line to which you are assigned. However, your working hours will ultimately be based on a continental shift pattern of 4 on 4 off, rotating between 06:00 to 18:00 / 18:00 to 06:00. Small variations may occur within this continental shift pattern.

About the Role:

As a Maintenance Engineer in our production facility, you will play a crucial role in the maintenance and optimisation of our manufacturing equipment and processes. You will work directly with the production team to ensure that our production lines operate efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Carry out machinery fault-finding and troubleshooting processes, alongside scheduled maintenance tasks and services to support the proper functioning of our operation.
  2. Analyse production data and collaborate with key stakeholders to recommend evidence-based improvements aiming to enhance efficiency and reduce waste, whilst maintaining product quality.
  3. Assist in the training of staff on new equipment and processes.
  4. Provide simple and transparent communication to opposite shifts about any ongoing maintenance topics.
  5. Use the in-house system to accurately record any work performed and track spare parts.
  6. Work to high standards of health and safety, food safety and hygiene.

About You:

  1. Proven experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in the food manufacturing industry.
  2. Strong hands-on knowledge of mechanical systems, machinery, engineering tools, and production processes.
  3. Attentive to detail with the ability to present the root cause of an issue to drive solutions.
  4. Articulate in verbal and written communication appropriate to your audience.
  5. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  6. Adaptable to different types of manufacturing IT systems.
  7. Knowledge of food safety regulations and standards is an advantage, but internal training will be provided.
  8. An IPAF and forklift licence, as well as some electrical knowledge, would be an advantage, but not essential, as full training will be given to the right person.
