Treatment Resistant Depression (TRD) Specialist Mental Health Nurse
Working hours: 22.5 hours per week. Shifts will either be 8am-4pm or 9am-5pm working three days per week.

About the Role
Are you an experienced Mental Health Nurse with a passion for innovative, evidence-based treatments for complex mental health conditions? Nightingale Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a TRD Specialist Mental Health Nurse to join our specialist Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT), Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) and Ketamine Treatment Service. The post holder will play a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care for individuals with severe and treatment-resistant mental health conditions. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will assess, plan, deliver and evaluate care, ensuring safe clinical practice, adherence to treatment protocols and a compassionate patient experience. You will also contribute to service development and clinical governance.
Who We're Looking For
- You will be an experienced Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with a current valid NMC registration.
- You will have significant post-registration experience within acute mental health, crisis or specialist services.
- You will have a strong understanding of treatment-resistant depression and related mental health conditions.
- You will be confident in delivering care that requires close physical health monitoring and physiological observation.
- You will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, including medical staff, pharmacy and compliance teams.
- You will actively participate in care planning discussions and ensure care plans are reviewed, updated, and actioned.
- You will provide effective liaison with external agencies where required.
- Above all, you will be compassionate, resilient and dedicated to supporting patients through advanced treatment pathways.
Requirements
The following skills and qualifications are essential:
- Registered Mental Health Nurse with a current NMC registration.
- Strong knowledge of the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act.
- Evidence of significant post-registration clinical experience.
- Experience in physical health monitoring and administering treatments requiring close observation.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong interpersonal and risk management skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Up to date knowledge of current nursing practice and mental health issues.
- Awareness of clinical governance and safe practice standards.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Computer literacy and accurate clinical documentation.
Strongly desirable qualities include:
- Experience or training in ECT, rTMS, or ketamine-assisted treatments.
- Experience working within specialist or private healthcare services.
- Evidence of involvement in service development, audit or clinical governance.
- A strong interest in neuromodulation or emerging mental health treatments.
