About the role
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic People Director to provide both strategic and operational leadership of our People function. This is a pivotal Senior Leadership Team role, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, with accountability for shaping and delivering a People Strategy that enables high-quality, safe and effective patient care. This role requires a pragmatic, hands-on leader who can balance long-term strategic priorities with day-to-day operational oversight across a multi-site private mental health hospital. You will play a key role in delivering our Business Elevation Strategy, ensuring our workforce is capable, engaged and aligned to organisational goals.
As People Director, you will lead on workforce strategy, organisational culture, employee relations and governance, while developing a high-performing People Team that can support both current operations and future growth.

Requirements
The following skills and experience are essential:
- Significant senior HR/People leadership experience within a complex organisation
- Proven track record of developing and delivering People Strategy and organisational change
- Strong experience in employee relations, including complex and high-risk case management
- Expertise in workforce planning, recruitment and retention strategies
- Experience of operating at Senior Leadership Team or equivalent level
- Strong understanding of people governance, risk and compliance frameworks
- Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to lead and develop high-performing teams
- Strong organisational and financial awareness, including budget accountability
- Experience using people data and analytics to drive insight and decision making
Strongly desirable qualities include:
- Experience within healthcare, mental health services or a similarly regulated environment
- MCIPD or FCIPD (or equivalent professional standing)
- Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Experience working within multi-site or growing organisations
- Experience aligning local People strategies with wider group or international frameworks

Working Pattern
This role is offered on a part-time basis (three days per week). The successful candidate will maintain strong visibility across the organisation, including on-site presence where required and flexibility to support Senior Leadership Team and Board commitments.
