About the role

Nightingale Hospital is looking for a Housekeeping Assistant to help ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our patients, staff, and visitors. You'll play a key role in infection control, cleanliness, and hygiene throughout the hospital, working closely with both clinical and non-clinical teams.

Requirements
The following skills and qualifications are essential:
- Basic level of education.
- Experience in a customer service or housekeeping role.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritise, multitask and work under pressure.
- Understanding of infection control, health and safety, and cleanliness standards.
- Able to work flexibly, including day, night and weekend shifts.
Strongly desirable qualities include:
- GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent).
- NVQ or equivalent qualification in Cleaning or Housekeeping.
- Previous experience working in a hospital environment.
- Understanding of COSHH and other relevant health and safety legislation.
- Experience working in mental health or with vulnerable individuals.
Key responsibilities
- Cleaning wards, bathrooms, patient rooms, and public areas in line with hospital schedules and infection control policies.
- High and low dusting, mopping, vacuuming, and surface wiping.
- Making patient beds and replacing linen as required.
- Reporting any maintenance issues or incidents promptly.
- Stocking and maintaining housekeeping supplies and equipment.
- Supporting emergency cleaning situations (e.g. spills or accidents).
- Working closely with the Nursing, Estates, and Facilities teams to maintain a safe, clean environment.
