We are partnering with an established multi-entity organisation operating within a people-focused, regulated sector to recruit an experienced Financial Controller. This is a broad, hands-on role where you'll take ownership of the day-to-day finance function while working closely with senior leadership and operational teams across the business. It's a great opportunity for someone who enjoys getting into the detail but can also step back, understand the wider commercial picture and use the numbers to help the business make better decisions. There's also genuine longer-term scope to progress towards Finance Director as you develop within the organisation over a number of years.
What you'll be doing:
- Producing monthly management accounts across a multi-entity structure and consolidating these reports.
- Producing statutory accounts and supporting year-end requirements.
- Leading budgeting, forecasting and cash flow reporting.
- Maintaining strong financial controls and balance sheet integrity.
- Providing commercial analysis and insight to senior leadership translating financial information into practical, easy-to-understand advice.
- Supporting commercial projects and wider business initiatives.
- Managing and developing a small finance team of two direct reports.
- Working with auditors and external advisers.
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes, reporting and efficiencies across finance.
What we're looking for:
You'll be a qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA accountant, ideally with around 3-5 years' post-qualified experience, and have worked within a multi-entity, subsidiary or group environment. You'll have strong management accounting and statutory reporting experience, alongside good technical knowledge and commercial awareness. Just as importantly, you'll be a strong communicator who enjoys working with people outside of finance. We're looking for someone who can build relationships, challenge constructively and find practical solutions while maintaining strong financial control. We're interested in speaking with candidates who have the right technical, multi-entity and commercial experience. Experience improving finance processes, systems or using technology and automation to drive efficiencies would also be advantageous.
Package:
Salary: £65,000 – £70,000
Location: West Midlands
Working pattern: Hybrid
Progression: Genuine longer-term opportunity to develop towards Finance Director
If you're an experienced Financial Controller looking for a broad role with plenty of ownership, senior stakeholder exposure and the opportunity to develop further, I'd love to hear from you. Please apply to be considered for interview, interviews will commence the first week of October.
