Every healthcare system in history has been a fundamental trade-off between quality and scale - our mission is to change that. We're building a new category of AI-native healthcare provider, using full-stack care automation to deliver world-class treatment at population scale. Our AI physiotherapy clinic is already democratising access to 24/7 healthcare for NHS patients across the UK, and we're just getting started.
Flok is building the new standard for healthcare delivery, loved by patients and partners, and we're growing fast. We're looking for an experienced and ambitious engineering leader to help us expand our capabilities, product range and geographies by building a world-class engineering team. You'll fully take over the management and growth of the team from the CTO, working closely with senior management to ensure that we are capable of achieving our ambitious goals.
To excel in this role, you'll have:
- A track record of recruiting great engineers, building teams from the ground up, and leading engineering teams of >30. We have a lot of hiring to do, and you'll need to be confident and excited by this.
- Strong systems and first-principles thinking. You'll need to be comfortable in an environment with limited existing processes, and at the same time excited to design new systems to help the team grow and flourish.
- Technical background—your engineering instincts and achievements are respected by your peers and you can comfortably discuss advanced computing topics. You'll be completely comfortable reading code in most commonly-used languages, and happy to occasionally get your hands dirty writing production code.
- Experience developing software medical devices, either as engineer or manager. A significant part of Flok's software is a medical device, and you'll need to be familiar with the implications for process & structure.
- Conviction that LLMs are transforming software engineering for the better, concrete insights of how this could play out, and the ability to convince others. We believe the best companies of the next decade will be those which harness this new power for fun and profit, safely. If you aren't curious and optimistic about AI, you won't fit in here.
- Ultimately, a strong bias for action and extreme ownership. We're looking for someone who will take full responsibility for the output of the engineering team and wants to lead a high-performing group of A-players.
What We Offer:
- Challenging work at the frontier of AI-native healthcare
- In-person collaborative culture in a beautiful work space in the Cambridgeshire countryside
- An onsite gym and digital health subscription of your choice
- Early stage equity with employee-friendly terms (via an EMI scheme)
- Comprehensive medical coverage (including dental and optical) and life insurance
- Optional remote working on Wednesdays, with an annual allowance of 10 extra remote days
- Desk setup allowance for your favourite keyboard / mouse / whatever!
- Monthly team feasts (and the BBQ is used most days)
- A fast paced work environment geared towards excellence and professional growth (with annual training budget)
- A chance to have a big impact in a small team transforming care and outcomes at population scale
