What does the role involve?
- Supervise the day‑to‑day running of all aspects of the yard of the haulage company.
- Teach best practice to all members of the yard team.
- Monitor and manage performance to optimum levels of all yard staff.
- Ensure all product/vehicles are always correctly positioned, well presented and accessible.
- Sign and check all deliveries.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping in yard/workshop area.
- Security/gatehouse duties: sign visitors in and out and direct accordingly.
- Complete site inductions for haulers.
- Manage traffic within the yard.
- General yard coordination and housekeeping.
- Implement site safety rules and report incidents to supervisor.
- Carry out shunting work of vehicles within the yard.
Your Experience
- Knowledge of HGV vehicles would be ideal as the role involves visual checks on vehicles.
- Experience within a supervisory role will be ideal but not essential.
- Experience of HGV driving is essential.
- Successful candidates must possess a minimum of an HGV Class 2 licence.
- Must be able to multi‑task and prioritise duties.
