About the role: Flo is building the future of renewable electricity retail in Singapore and Australia. We are looking for a hands‑on Team Lead (Backend) to drive architecture, delivery, and team growth within a key product vertical.
What you'll do:
- This is a 70% hands‑on technical leadership / system ownership role and 30% people management, combining deep engineering execution with responsibility for growing and enabling a high‑performing team.
Technical Leadership & System Ownership
- Lead system design and architectural decisions to ensure scalability, reliability, security, and performance
- Own end‑to‑end delivery of complex backend systems from ideation to delivery (into production)
- Proactively manage risks, dependencies, and technical trade‑offs
- Drive standardisation, reusable patterns, and platform‑level improvements
- Strengthen best practices across predictability, code quality, testing, observability, and infrastructure
- Contribute meaningfully to the codebase while setting technical direction
People Management & Team Development
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of engineers
- Conduct regular 1:1s, provide structured feedback, and support career growth
- Foster accountability, ownership, and engineering excellence
- Support hiring, onboarding, and performance development
- Cultivate a collaborative, empowered Agile culture
Delivery & Cross‑Functional Impact
- Take accountability for planning and executing significant features and systems
- Build and operate platforms serving multiple markets (Singapore & Australia)
- Align technical solutions with product and business objectives
- Partner closely with Product and stakeholders to drive customer impact
Qualifications
- 6+ years of software engineering experience in product‑focused environments
- Proven experience leading high‑scale, complex systems end‑to‑end
- Prior experience mentoring or managing engineers
- Strong backend and distributed systems expertise
- Ability to balance hands‑on execution with team leadership
- Excellent communication and stakeholder alignment skills
