Gameplay Animator in Birmingham

UK Remote or West Midlands Based – Birmingham/ Full-Time Contractor

Role and Purpose: We are looking for a talented and motivated Gameplay Animator to help develop, own and deliver visually stunning and lifelike animations, both for Flix’s own exclusive projects and our high profile co-development partners. As a vital component of the Animation team, you will utilise your artistic abilities and creativity to breathe life into game assets, contributing to the overall immersion and player experience.

Responsibilities:

• Create and implement high quality 3D animations for characters, creatures, and other in-game objects, following the artistic vision and design guidelines.
• Iterate and refine animations based on feedback and collaboration with the Animation team, Art Director, Character Artists and other team members to achieve the desired visual and gameplay objectives.
• Work with motion capture data to enhance and refine animations, maintaining a balance between realism and artistic style.
• Follow best pipeline practices for content creation, optimization, and performance, ensuring work meets visual quality standards and runs smoothly across target platforms.
• Organize and manage animation assets efficiently, adhering to established file naming and version control conventions, and support in planning content creation.
• Actively participate in Animation reviews, incorporating feedback to improve the quality of your work.

Requirements:

• Proven Animation experience within games.
• A show reel demonstrating high quality keyframe animation and motion capture clean-up, with a clear knowledge of game loops and gameplay feel.
• Highly proficiency in relevant industry-standard software, such as Maya.
• Demonstrated core Animation skills and command of fundamentals such as weight, timing, and posing.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work positively in a team environment.
• Take critique and guidance from others well, and be able to contribute your own creative input in Animation reviews.
• Manage your time effectively to create content to time, quality and implementation constraints.
• Creative mindset with an eye for detail and storytelling through animation.
• A passion for gaming and a drive to deliver visually stunning and captivating gaming experiences.
• Experience with character rigging and skinning.
• Familiarity with motion capture data and integration.
• Skills in facial animation.
• Collaborate in the execution of mocap shoots while being mindful of technical constraints.
