Job Purpose
The Production Engineer role will report to the Engineering Manager at the Teledyne Energetics site in Lincoln. The Production Engineer will provide hands‑on engineering support to manufacturing operations during assigned shifts, ensuring safe, efficient and high‑quality production. The role supports the company’s Business Operating System (BOS), daily management routines and quality standards, while resolving production issues and driving continuous improvement. The successful candidate will be required to work a shift pattern, including afternoons/evenings (a shift premium will be paid where applicable).
Key Responsibilities
- Safety
- Maintain and promote a strong safety‑first culture.
- Ensure processes and equipment are safe and compliant.
- Support risk assessments, incident investigations and safe systems of work.
- Challenge unsafe behaviours and drive corrective actions.
- Quality
- Reinforce right‑first‑time manufacturing and quality compliance.
- Ensure adherence to drawings, specifications and process documentation.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Maintain audit readiness and quality best practices.
- Production & Engineering Support
- Provide real‑time engineering support during shift operations.
- Troubleshoot process, equipment and technical issues swiftly.
- Support delivery of SQDC targets.
- Analyse performance data to identify improvement actions.
- Ensure clear and accurate shift handovers.
- Business Operating System (BOS) & Daily Management
- Support and reinforce BOS standards and routines.
- Participate in tier meetings and daily reviews.
- Maintain visual management and KPI reporting.
- Support structured escalation and problem solving.
- Drive adherence to standard work.
- Continuous Improvement
- Identify and implement process improvements.
- Support lean initiatives (waste reduction, 5S, standardisation).
- Contribute to process optimisation, cost reduction and tooling/method improvements.
- Support introduction of new technologies or production methods.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Experience in production, manufacturing or engineering support.
- Strong technical problem‑solving ability.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Strong awareness of safe working practices.
- Experience in root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Able to work independently and make sound decisions.
- Good communication skills including handovers.
- Competent IT skills.
- Methodical and organised approach.
Desirable
- Experience in lean manufacturing (5S, standard work, Kaizen).
- Familiarity with BOS or daily management systems.
- Experience with PFMEA, control plans or validation.
- Knowledge of 8D, A3, DMAIC or fishbone analysis.
- Experience introducing new methods or tooling.
- Engineering qualification (Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing).
- Experience in high‑mix, low‑volume or safety‑critical environments.
