We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Bid Manager to lead the end‑to‑end bid process for strategic customer opportunities. The successful candidate will play a dual role—managing complex bids while supporting broader Sales Operations activities. Strong experience with Salesforce for pipeline and bid management, and SAP for pricing and reporting, is essential.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the end‑to‑end bid process from qualification and strategy creation through to submission.
- Run bid kick‑off meetings and ensure alignment of timelines, scope, and responsibilities across all stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain detailed bid plans, risk analyses, and compliance matrices.
- Ensure all bids align with internal governance, approval levels, and audit requirements.
- Coordinate cross‑functional teams (sales, engineering, finance, legal, operations) to gather accurate input and ensure bid quality.
- Work with sales, finance and commercial teams to develop competitive and profitable pricing strategies.
- Ensure commercial accuracy, margin protection, and risk mitigation.
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date bid records, opportunity stages, and documentation.
- Facilitate post‑submission reviews and capture lessons learned to enhance future performance.
- Monitor pipeline health, bid progress, and reporting metrics to support sales forecasting.
- Provide data insights and recommendations to enhance win probability.
- Support the Sales Leadership Team with operational reporting, analysis, and process improvement.
- Maintain CRM data quality, ensuring opportunity hygiene, forecasting accuracy, and compliance with sales processes.
- Prepare dashboards, sales performance reports, and executive summaries using Salesforce data.
- Work closely with sales teams to optimise the use of Salesforce workflows, templates, and automation.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within sales processes, bid governance, documentation libraries, and pricing tools.
- Proven experience managing bids in a technical, engineering, or high‑reliability environment (healthcare, aerospace, defence, industrial, or similar).
- Strong working knowledge of Salesforce (opportunity management, reporting, dashboards).
- Hands‑on experience with SAP in a commercial, sales, or operations environment.
- Excellent project management and stakeholder coordination skills.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and communication capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent bids in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong commercial awareness with high attention to detail.
- Experience in Sales Operations or Commercial Operations.
- APMP, Shipley, or similar bid management certification.
- Experience with cost modelling, margin analysis, and pricing structures.
- Proficiency with Excel (lookups, pivot tables, nested formulas).
- Experience using Power BI or similar analytics tools.
- Skilled in document management platforms (Teams, SharePoint).
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent organisational, communication, and cross-functional coordination skills.
- Proactive and able to drive tasks forward without constant oversight.
- Calm under pressure and comfortable with tight deadlines.
