Based in Bromborough, Teledyne CML Composites is a fast-growing manufacturer, supplying carbon/glass fibre composite parts and assemblies to some of the world’s leading aircraft and aero engine producers. Summary

This position supports Teledyne CML Composites including but not limited to managing all necessary U.K and U.S. export authorizations, ensuring compliant execution of the Teledyne Trade Compliance export & customs policies and procedures and reviewing and releasing of orders. The position reports to the A&DE UK Country Export Lead. The Trade Compliance Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that regulatory Trade Compliance requirements are met when supporting the business functions. The main area of responsibility for the position is managing the export authorizations, however the Trade Compliance Coordinator will also be involved in executing internal Trade Compliance policies & procedures for export & customs compliance, data gathering for internal Trade Compliance investigations as well as Trade Compliance focused projects at the CML facility. An active engagement, business support approach and drive for continuous improvement are the required competencies for the position. The role also requires the highest degree of ethical business conduct and integrity. The role demands high communication and collaboration skills, including interacting with all of the various functional areas, the UK Country Trade Compliance Lead, and Teledyne’s Corporate International Trade Compliance (“CITC”) office.

About You:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Ensuring site compliance with Teledyne GTC internal requirements (manuals, policies, and procedures) and in accordance with domestic and foreign import and export laws and regulations;
  • Ensure legal compliance with relevant export regulations associated with trading export controlled products;
  • Maintain Customs & Export compliance procedures and program documentation, including import and export instructions, documentation; trade data points such as HTS classification, country of origin, broker management; recordkeeping; audits and training;
  • Act as a site trade compliance point of contact for local organization;
  • Review Customs entries for accuracy and compliance with customs regulations and CITC policies and procedures;
  • Provide relevant trade compliance data to UK Customs & Exports Compliance Leads and CITC;
  • Support regular Customs/Export compliance training for senior management, engineers, shipping logistics, sales and marketing and other functions involved in import and exporting, as required;
  • Support periodic audits and self-audits and implement corrective action, as required;
  • Liaise with internal customers: provide Trade Compliance support to the customer service & logistics departments;
  • Organize proficient record keeping of export authorization documentation, maintain updated databases, track in-process and pending licenses applications and use;
  • Assist with the implementation and maintenance of internal Trade Compliance policies and procedures;
  • Perform denied party screening;
  • Support site management accountability and responsibility for import and export compliance;
  • Assists UK Country Export Lead in export licensing process;
  • Assist the Trade Compliance Lead in conducting periodic audits and self-audits and implementing corrective action, as required;
  • Other trade compliance duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

1-2 years of directly related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Specific Export Controls Experience

Familiarity with UK and US trade compliance regulations; ability to apply technical knowledge of regulations to business transactions; and experience with automated denied party screening systems and UK Government on-line license application procedures strongly preferred.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret governmental regulations, general business periodicals, professional journals, or technical procedures. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Outlook; MS Excel and MS Word software.

Other Qualifications

This position requires access to export-controlled information or items (i.e., regulated technology or technical data per ITAR/EAR US regulations). Applicants must be eligible to apply for and obtain the appropriate export control license from the U.S. Departments of State or Commerce. To pass that application process successfully, ideally it would be beneficial for candidates with UK citizenship.
