As a Service Engineer, you are a vital player in maintaining FLIR's world-leading position in thermal sensing technologies. You will be a part of the Surveillance Service department comprised of technical professionals and engineers. Your focus is post-sale support for high tech cameras, mainly used for military and rescue purposes, often mounted in different airborne vehicles, but also for maritime and land vehicles. You will be highly visible customer support through the performance of the on-site installation, training, and general post-sales support. Your job also takes place in the Teledyne FLIR site, including repairs of complex camera electronics and mechanical equipment, overseeing diagnoses, troubleshooting, and service. Since you are working close to our customers, you need excellent social skills to provide superior customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct high-level repair, diagnosis, service, support, and upgrades to primarily airborne but also land and maritime products.
  • Under limited supervision, visit customer and operator sites to carry out field analysis and repairs.
  • Prepare lesson plans and perform training of customer personnel and maintenance of FLIR equipment.
  • Analyze product failure and recommend and implement solutions to enhance product reliability.
  • Ad hoc job duties as required/needed in support of overall business needs in engineering, manufacturing, logistics, etc.
  • Liaison with customers to keep them informed of the progress of returned equipment.
  • Provide effective remote technical support via telephone and email.
  • Domestic and international travel 30% of the time.
  • Use of our business ERP system (SAP) to determine repair and maintenance costs.
  • Assist in the provision out of hours support to contract customers through participation in the evening & weekend call out duty rota.

Qualifications

  • Strong mechanical and electrical background to have the ability to problem-solve/troubleshoot complex electronic systems.
  • Experience in technical support or engineering environment.
  • Have served a recognized apprenticeship or completed a formal college qualification such as City and Guilds in Electronics.
  • A working knowledge of ITAR and associated Export Control constraints.
  • Fluent in English is a must.
  • Driver's license essential.
