What you’ll be involved in:
The Operations Manager will have tactical responsibility and strategic vision for implementing a forward-thinking production strategy that maximizes efficiency and drives operational excellence, optimizing production levels. You will seek best-in-class practices to meet customer expectations.
You will provide strong leadership to motivate and inspire the operations team, mentoring staff to develop new skills and leadership practices.
Main responsibilities for this role:
- Manage, lead, and coach the production team and department leaders to ensure high output and quality of our products.
- Track succession planning and staff development through appraisals and objectives.
- Analyze capacity of people, parts, and equipment. Define, acquire, and manage resource requirements to meet commitments and future growth.
- Create and communicate a master production plan to meet revenue targets.
- Develop internal strategies to improve and grow the business in collaboration with senior management.
- Maintain key performance indicators and operational excellence aligned with business objectives.
- Identify and mitigate risks and opportunities within operational plans.
- Ensure all HS&E requirements are supported, maintained, and complied with, in conjunction with the HS&E Manager.
- Collaborate with QA on issues and promote a quality mindset across all employees.
- Hold full responsibility for production team leaders, operators, stores, and engineering.
- Contribute to customer bids, generate proposals, and ensure operational feasibility of quotes.
- Act as customer and supplier point of contact for escalations outside normal channels.
What we’re looking for in you:
- Degree qualified with a strong engineering background.
- Experience in continuous improvement activities within production environments.
- Experience in Defence, Space, Aerospace, or Electronics industries is beneficial.
- P&L experience is advantageous.
- Operational management and leadership experience in high-tech manufacturing.
- ERP experience, preferably SAP.
- Experience managing projects and delivering business change.
- Knowledge of operational excellence tools is beneficial.
- Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills to motivate teams and achieve targets.
- Self-motivated, able to work under pressure.
