Role Overview
Quality Engineer – responsible for ensuring products, processes, and systems comply with stringent regulatory, customer, and industry standards throughout the full lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with company operating procedures.
- Ensure customer defined quality KPIs are met.
- Lead, conduct and document gauge R'R, ANOVA, and MSA activities.
- Provide guidance in the development of procedures to accommodate a changing environment.
- Support operations in achieving continuous improvement by identifying best practice and championing changes, working closely with Process Engineers.
- Lead quality root‑cause and corrective actions through methods such as 8D and A3.
- Support Fast Responses Board using Fishbone, 3‑legged 5 Why.
- Manage department MRB process and report key issues and late MRB tickets.
- Manage non‑conformities related to the responsible area and guide employees on effective corrective actions.
- Produce Right‑First‑Time data, publish results and use them to direct efforts and focus.
- Liaise with all areas of the business, suppliers and customers, to resolve product quality issues.
- Conduct layered process audits and, where applicable, internal audits to demonstrate compliance with procedures and requirements.
- Attend business/product reviews to ensure all aspects of the requirement are addressed for customer satisfaction.
- Build effective working relationships internally and externally.
- Verify processes to customer standards.
- Perform risk mitigation and analysis (FMEA – PFMEA/DFMEA).
Essential Qualifications
- Agree to undergo UK Government Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance.
- Read and understand written technical operating procedures and drawings.
- Hold high formal education (preferably HNC level or equivalent).
- Have quality assurance experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
- Know AS9100 quality requirements.
- Possess a time‑served background in an engineering discipline.
- Understand problem‑solving tools and techniques.
- Be fully competent in Microsoft Office Applications and technical report generation.
- Have excellent communication skills, a methodical approach, and proven attention to detail.
- Be able to work under pressure to achieve demanding objectives.
Desirable Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge of Energetics products and processes and the Teledyne Energetics Quality Management System.
- Familiarity with auditing techniques (training will be provided if required).
- Knowledge of recognised project management methodologies.
- Knowledge of automated manufacturing commissioning strategies.
