Teledyne Energetics UK has been designing and developing solutions for the safety, arming, and initiation technology sector since 1984. This includes military energetic devices from components through to complete systems. Some of the flagship product lines include active vehicle safety systems, sea mine fuzes, modular artillery fuzes, flight termination units, electronic Safe & Arm Units, and electronic Ignition Safety Devices.

The Production Manager is responsible for leading and optimising all manufacturing operations within the production environment, ensuring that production output meets agreed production plans, customer demand, quality standards, and cost targets. The role focuses on driving operational efficiency, continuous improvement, and team performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Production Planning & Execution
    • Deliver the production plan in line with the agreed S&OP demand plan
    • Ensure adherence to schedules, priorities, and takt (cycle) times
    • Monitor daily output performance and address deviations proactively
    • Collaborate with Planning, Procurement, and Engineering to ensure smooth execution
    • Ensure all production hours are captured and logged to the correct project ID
    • Ensure all ERP (SAP) transactions/process are completed on time and accurately
  • Team Leadership & Absence Management
    • Lead, develop, and manage production teams
    • Proactively manage absence, attendance, and workforce availability to protect delivery
    • Ensure sufficient cover, cross‑training, and resilience within teams
    • Set clear objectives and performance expectations aligned to business KPIs
    • Drive a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement
    • Manage staffing levels, skills matrix, and training plans
    • Conduct regular performance reviews and implement corrective actions
    • Ensure all team members are trained, compliant, and operating safely at all times
  • Continuous Improvement (CI)
    • Drive Lean Manufacturing initiatives (5S, Kaizen, waste reduction)
    • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce cost
    • Support introduction of new technologies and automation where applicable
    • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) on recurring issues
  • Quality & Compliance
    • Ensure all production activities comply with quality standards and regulatory requirements
    • Work closely with Quality teams to resolve non‑conformance issues
    • Promote a “right first time” culture
  • Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
    • Ensure all operations meet health & safety standards
    • Lead by example in promoting a safe working environment and embed safety into daily operations
    • Conduct risk assessments and ensure controls are in place
    • Investigate incidents and implement preventative measures
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration
    • Work closely with Demand & Supply Manager, Procurement/Materials, Engineering & NPI teams, and Logistics/Stores
    • Support new product introductions and productionisation activities
