Teledyne Energetics UK have been designing and developing solutions for the safety, arming, and initiation technology sector since 1984. This includes military energetic devices from components through to complete systems. Some of the flagship product lines include active vehicle safety systems, sea mine fuzes, modular artillery fuzes, flight termination units, electronic Safe & Arm Units, and electronic Ignition Safety Devices. Teledyne Energetics also delivers a range of services to its global customer base. Design services include modelling and testing of fully packaged circuitry for control and initiation of detonators, which are carried out at our fully licensed site at Lincoln.

We have an excellent opportunity for an Energetics Engineer to grow their career within production engineering for energetic devices such as detonators, strip line cables and safety arming units. The successful candidate will be supported with learning plans, developing their skills to proactively influence the product through production. The Energetics Engineer supports all aspects of energetic device manufacture and assembly. Our products are at the forefront of energetics technology in the global market, and the successful applicant will gain a thorough understanding of our business and our products. Key Responsibilities:

  • Define robust and consistent manufacturing processes to achieve quality standards and cost targets to both internal and customer driven KPIs.
  • Define and execute commissioning strategies in collaboration with the customer for automated manufacturing and test equipment.
  • Define and execute manufacturing production and NRE plans in line with customer requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge and awareness of relevant emerging technologies, processes and standards.
  • Establish and maintain strong working links with internal and external Development, Engineering and Commercial functions.
  • Undertake cost estimate and variance analysis to ensure competitive pricing and desired margin achievement.
  • Manage product configuration control in line with customer expectations and company procedures.
  • Attend all learning and development opportunities provided by the Company.
  • Understand and fully comply with the national and international export, import and ITAR rules and legislation.

Skills & Experience:

Essential:

  • Be willing to undergo UK Government Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of processing of energetic materials in a production and process engineering environments.
  • Educated to bachelor’s degree level or equivalent experience, with an engineering or scientific bias.
  • An ability to read and understand written technical operating procedures and drawings.
  • Sound commercial acumen, confidence and professionalism with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High motivation, responsiveness and focus, also possessing meticulous attention to detail.
  • Conversant with Microsoft office applications - Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Desirable:

  • Comprehensive working knowledge of Mechanical or Electrical standards required for high precision manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement and lean manufacturing methodologies.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of recognised Project Management methodologies.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of automated manufacturing commissioning strategies.
