Overview
We are searching for a detail‑oriented, results‑driven service engineer to join our growing business. Reporting to the local Service Manager within the Global Service organization, the Service Engineer plays a critical role in preserving Teledyne‑FLIR's position as the Global Leader for thermal imaging solutions through the evaluation, failure diagnosis, repair and calibration/adjustment of thermal imaging products and systems.
Responsibilities
Receives work assignments from the Service Manager and/or Lead Technician and operates as part of a team responsible for delivering the full range of aftermarket services, including repair and calibration of thermal imaging product solutions. Employs knowledge of electronic theory, thermography, and optics throughout the performance of daily work assignments. Works in a collaborative manner with Customer Service personnel and provides timely updates and progress reports to the local Service manager. Periodically engages customers to explain complex technical issues and proposed solutions. Utilizes hand tools and electronic test equipment common to the industry; performs software/firmware updates on camera products; leverages embedded programming languages and computer information systems to support service actions. Documents all product evaluation and repair actions using the SAP PR1 Customer Service module. Participates in ATEX, HazLoc, and NFPA training and certification efforts; ensures all service actions are performed in accordance with relevant work instructions and directives. Receives cross‑training in other disciplines to increase team capacity and demonstrates a consistently positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills.
Qualifications
Associate of Science in an electronics/engineering discipline or equivalent work experience is required. 3 to 5 years of hands‑on experience in the electronics repair/assembly industry. Demonstrated ability to operate electronic test equipment and navigate computer operating systems and embedded programming languages. Solid understanding of metrology principles and calibration laboratory operations. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. Hands‑on experience with SAP/PR1 customer service module and Oracle ticketing system is a plus. Experience in thermography and/or optics is preferred. Candidates must be able to work at a bench and from a standing position for up to one hour at a time. Technicians are expected to lift objects weighing up to 40 lbs. from time to time. The position requires access to export‑controlled information or items; applicants must be eligible to apply for and obtain the appropriate export control license from the U.S. Departments of State or Commerce.
