Job Summary: This is a technical procurement role responsible for PCB’s, PCBA’s and Electronic Components, managing the commercial, technical, strategic and quality aspects of supplier selection, new part introduction, supplier production process qualification, quality, cost negotiations, and supplier relationship management.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Define commodity strategies ensuring technology roadmap, cost and schedule requirements are satisfied and use industry knowledge to influence Design Engineers and Product Managers.
- Select, evaluate and approve new suppliers to meet current and future project and business requirements.
- Manage relationships with global and local manufacturers and distributors, leveraging market intelligence to negotiate favourable terms, competitive pricing.
- Utilise industry tools to track component risk, flagging EOL risks to support NPI design decisions and before it impacts volume production.
- Collaborate with Engineering to review BOM’s conducting design for obsolescence reviews to select components with long lifecycles.
- Manage Product Change Notifications (PCN’s) and EOL notices, coordinating with technical teams for approval of alternative parts.
- Source hard to find or obsolete parts from authorized and validated secondary markets, ensuring adherence to counterfeit protocols.
- Manage the introduction of new parts into the supply chain to meet cost, quality and project schedule requirements. Negotiate costs, manage supplier related project schedules and ensure supplier implements qualified production processes. Deliver the supply chain requirements of the new product introduction process.
- Manage early supplier involvement activities including Design for cost and quality and use knowledge to influence the direction of new designs.
- Project manage supplier resourcing projects.
- Manage value engineering and quality improvement activities.
- Implement, maintain and police contractual agreements and statements of work where appropriate to protect the interests of Raymarine.
- Manage supplier implementation of engineering changes for responsible commodities and products.
- Responsible for all aspects of supplier quality including:
- Supplier quality performance measurement and reporting to senior management.
- Resolve quality issues quickly and effectively.
- Drive proactive quality improvement activities in supply chain.
- Apply commodity knowledge and production expertise to reduce cost, cycle time and drive efficiencies through the supply chain.
- Centre of competence for all quality, engineering and commercial aspects of supplier management for responsible commodities.
- Manage compliance requirements associated with responsible commodities such as ROHS, REACH & other relevant country supply chain related environmental legislation.
Job Qualifications:
- Higher Education qualification in Electronic / Manufacturing Engineering preferred with strong desire to work in procurement and supply chain management.
- Or Business related qualification with strong interest in engineering.
- CIPS qualified (or working towards) is preferred.
