Job Description The Opportunity

We are seeking a Graduate Electronic Design Engineer to join our Electronic Engineering team in St Asaph.

The role will support the design, development, verification, and delivery of low-power electronic systems, modules, and sub-assemblies for advanced vision systems.

You will work as part of a supportive multi-disciplinary engineering team, gaining practical experience across new product introduction, production support, test, and continuous improvement activities.

This is an entry-level, hands-on role offering structured technical development, exposure to experienced engineers, and the opportunity to build a broad foundation in electronic design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the definition of hardware, firmware, embedded software, and system requirements.
  • Assist with the design, development, and documentation of electronic systems, modules, and sub-assemblies.
  • Produce calculations, test records, drawings, and engineering reports with guidance from experienced engineers.
  • Contribute to design reviews, risk assessments, and verification activities.
  • Verify hardware, firmware, embedded software, and applications against agreed requirements.
  • Support debugging of hardware/software integration using laboratory tools, test equipment, and development environments.
  • Work with PCB layout, manufacturing, test, and production teams to support product development and delivery.
  • Support technical investigations, problem solving, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Contribute technical input to project documentation, and proposals where appropriate.
  • Develop knowledge of relevant technologies, design standards, tools, and engineering processes.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • A degree, HND, or equivalent qualification in electronic engineering, embedded systems, or a related discipline.
  • A strong interest in electronic design, embedded systems, hardware development, and practical engineering problem solving.
  • Awareness of analogue and digital electronics, circuit design, schematic capture, PCB design principles, and electronic test methods.
  • Exposure to design tools such as Altium, PSpice, Matlab/Simulink, FPGA design suites, or similar would be beneficial.
  • Basic understanding of embedded software or scripting languages such as C, C++, Python, or similar.
  • Awareness of common hardware interfaces and communications protocols such as SPI, I2C, UART, USB, Ethernet, CAN, or similar.
  • Ability to interpret technical requirements, produce clear documentation, and follow structured engineering processes.
  • Practical laboratory skills, including use of oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, signal generators, or similar test equipment.
  • Good analytical, communication, teamwork, and problem‑solving skills.
  • A willingness to learn, take ownership of assigned tasks, and develop towards increasing technical responsibility.

As a Graduate Electronic Design Engineer, you will be supported through a structured development approach designed to build your technical capability, confidence, and understanding of the full product lifecycle.

Mentoring and day‑to‑day guidance from experienced electronic, firmware, software, and systems engineers.

Exposure to real engineering projects, including requirements capture, design, prototype build, verification, production support, and continuous improvement.
