Teledyne Space Imaging, located in Chelmsford, is seeking a Controller to be a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for overseeing the financial health and strategy of the organization. This role provides strategic direction, ensures financial compliance, and leads budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning efforts. The controller will work closely with other senior leaders to support business growth and operational efficiency and supervises a three-person finance team. Space Imaging employs over 200 people and has an annual revenue of $65 million with plans for future growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with General Manager to drive profitable growth, strong cash flow generation.
  • Responsible for preparing and developing reports for analysis of business trends, expenditures against budgets, inventory changes, product cost and progress on margin improvement initiatives, optimising information content for non-financial users.
  • Annual business planning, monthly forecasting and capital budgeting.
  • Drive key initiatives in cost control/reduction, working capital/inventory reductions, process and ERP system improvements
  • Manage and mentor a two-person team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team capabilities.
  • Operate as an accounting leader/resource with strong expertise in accounting issues faced by manufacturing environments including cost accounting, inventory management, revenue recognition, variance analysis, etc.
  • Ensure effective internal control structure and procedures are in place to meet SOX404 requirements. (i.e. SOX/Controls experience)
  • Familiarity and adherence with ASC606 revenue recognition.
  • Calculation of revenue recognition on Percent Complete basis on Over Time Program revenue on monthly basis.
  • Oversee and direct the interaction with external and internal auditors and ability to timely support audit requirements.
  • Lead timely month-end closing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (ACCA, ACA or CIMA a plus).
  • Experience in projects and estimates at completion
  • Strong operational/commercial finance background US GAAP reporting a plus
  • Strong P&L and Cash Flow management
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience with OneStream, SAP or other major ERP

  • Knowledge of accounting, budgeting, forecasting, government contracting and cost control principles including generally accepted accounting principles
  • Knowledge of ASC606 revenue standards.
  • Experience with Hyperion, Onestream, SAP or other major ERP
  • Advanced computer proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly developed detail organization, initiative, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
  • Ability to work weekends and evenings as needed for workload.
  • Display exemplary ethics and business conduct and perform work cognizant of safe work practices.
