Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver next‑generation products within the RF Power division portfolio.
  • Focus on mechanical and electrical assembly and test of complete RF systems.
  • Plan and organize product deliverables covering prototyping, NPI, DFM and production verification testing.
  • Work closely with lead engineers, designers, test engineers and project managers.
  • Provide accurate and timely written and verbal feedback to project teams, stakeholders and management.
  • Mentor other members of the project fabrication and test team.
  • Produce test specifications, build instructions and technical test reports.
  • Identify and investigate test failures, implementing corrective actions.
  • Support a proactive safety culture, including risk management and mitigation.
  • Travel within the UK and overseas (approximately 5–10% per year).

Qualifications

  • HNC / HND / degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or equivalent professional engineering experience.
  • Strong understanding of electrical and electronic fault‑finding techniques.
  • Ability to work from assembly drawings, schematics, work instructions and procedures.
  • Familiarity with standard test equipment and interpreting results.
  • Comfortable working in a small engineering team and supporting others.

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of magnetron and travelling wave tube operation.
  • Working knowledge of RF principles and ability to undertake RF power monitoring system measurements.
  • Understanding of RF measurement techniques and results interpretation.
  • Knowledge of high‑voltage testing and electrical safety.
  • Experience with the complete product life‑cycle design, from concept through to final design and customer handover.
  • Competent in AutoCad (ideally AutoCad Electrical) as a design/capture tool.
  • Familiarity with BS EN61010 electrical safety standard and Low Voltage Directive 2014/34/EU.
  • Qualification in small‑form‑factor soldering and/or J‑Standard, or willingness to learn.
