Role Overview
The Bid Team Lead is responsible for managing and coordinating the bid process to secure new business opportunities for Teledyne e2v. You will lead the bid team and work closely with the business development team, technical experts, project managers and commercial representatives to ensure high-quality, competitive proposals are delivered on time and in line with customer requirements. The role requires a proactive approach to driving best practices in bid management and ensuring clear communication between stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the bid team throughout the bid process, ensuring clear roles, responsibilities and deadlines are established and met. Providing support and guidance to bid managers as required.
- Support project managers through the contract change bid process, ensuring adherence to required approval gates.
- Manage the prioritisation of bid demand through capacity planning with business development, whilst meeting customer requirements.
- Coordinate the preparation, review, and submission of high-quality, compelling bids and proposals for space science, earth observation and astronomy projects.
- Work closely with business development, technical, engineering, and commercial teams to gather inputs, clarify requirements, and develop winning strategies.
- Ensure compliance with internal governance processes and customer requirements at all stages of the bid.
- Act as bid manager - sharing the load of bid throughput.
- Facilitate bid/no-bid decisions and ensure risks are identified, mitigated, and communicated effectively.
- Be the initial point of contact for bid approvals (including preparation and submission for corporate approval).
- Maintain accurate records of bid activity and provide regular updates to senior management on progress and outcomes.
- Drive continuous improvement in bid processes and share lessons learned across the team.

Person Specification
- Proven experience in bid management or a similar commercial role, ideally within the technology, engineering, or space sectors.
- Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and manage competing priorities.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work under tight deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities.
- Sound judgement – understanding when to own & brief and when to escalate.
- Line management experience.
