About the Role: Flint Technology Services is seeking an IP Test Engineer with specialized expertise in IP testing, MPLS networks, and Juniper equipment to join one of our clients in Reading. This role is integral to ensuring robust network testing, problem-solving, and compliance with the Telecom Security Act (TSA). You will be responsible for regression testing, testbed upgrades, and technical risk assessments while working collaboratively with internal teams, vendors, and project stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate internal and external vendor teams, including leading cross-functional projects where necessary.
- Execute regression testing and upgrades for MPLS HL3 equipment in a Testbed environment.
- Follow Test Strategies, develop Test Plans and Test Criteria, and ensure all risks are identified and mitigated.
- Troubleshoot complex IP network issues, liaise with vendors to resolve problems, and communicate progress clearly to project teams.
- Manage faults according to the client Fault Management Process and report performance against departmental KPIs.
- Prioritize and manage multiple test activities, adjusting to changing requirements as needed.
- Document testing services to a high standard using Java tools where applicable.
- Ensure non-compliant TSA measures do not progress into live networks.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong understanding of Project Management methodologies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated, able to work independently with minimal guidance and meet tight deadlines.
- Collaborative team player with leadership capability when required.
- Experience using Spirent Test Centre, IXIA, Wireshark, or similar IP packet generation and tracing tools.
- In-depth knowledge of Cisco, Juniper, Ethernet Switches, IP protocols, MPLS/VPN, and IP security technologies.
- Ability to analyze technical documentation and develop clear test strategies.
Required Experience:
- Cisco CCNP accreditation (or equivalent experience).
- Strong knowledge of GSM, GPRS, UMTS, and LTE principles.
- Hands-on experience with LAN, WAN, MAN, and SAN networks.
Desirable Experience:
- Knowledge of IT system administration on Microsoft and Unix/Linux systems.
- Familiarity with PDH/SDH, ATM, and Frame Relay systems.
- ISTQB (ISEB) Foundation Certification.
