The Cabling Installation & Test Engineer will be responsible for the installation, termination, and testing of structured cabling - both copper and fibre optic - within customer data-centre environments. The engineer will support the integration of Layer 1 infrastructure with the customer's automation platform and ensure that all cabling work meets required technical and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, route, and secure data-centre cabling across a range of port speeds (1G to 400G).
- Perform high-quality terminations on copper and fibre connectors, patch panels, and related infrastructure.
- Carry out cable testing to industry standards (e.g., Fluke, OTDR, light-loss testing).
- Accurately label all cabling and associated hardware following customer documentation standards.
- Produce clear and complete as-built documentation, including:
- Cable test reports
- Labelling schedules
- Rack/port mapping
- Notes on any issues, deviations, or constraints encountered
