We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Network Engineer with strong experience in service provider and data centre switching and routing. The ideal candidate will possess extensive networking expertise, a proactive approach to technical development, and the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly across both technical and business teams.
Responsibilities
- Proven networking expertise with the ability to learn and apply new technologies quickly.
- Senior-level knowledge of service provider and data centre routing and switching.
- Experience with on-premises and hybrid cloud environments (advantageous).
- Exposure to network automation and scripting (e.g., Python, Ansible) is highly desirable.
- Highly self-motivated, showing initiative and ownership of technical growth and industry standards.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills – able to explain complex topics simply and collaborate effectively across teams.
- Deep experience with MPLS, data centre routing, and switching design and implementation.
- Strong understanding of redundant, highly available network architectures.
- In-depth knowledge of the OSI model, TCP/IP stack, and advanced troubleshooting.
- Expertise in BGP, MPLS, and other enterprise routing protocols.
- L2 and L3 network design, operations, and troubleshooting.
- WAN routing and traffic engineering.
- Hands-on experience with major network vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, F5, and Fortinet.
- Strong understanding of SNMP, NTP, TACACS+, SYSLOG, and other standard network protocols.
- Analytical and problem-solving mindset with excellent planning and prioritisation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver to tight deadlines.
- Flexibility to work out of hours when required for network changes.
- Experience or knowledge of network automation technologies such as YANG, OpenConfig, NETCONF, RESTCONF, Ansible, Python.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
Qualifications
- Relevant Service Provider Routing and/or Security certifications (e.g., CCIE, JNCIE, SRA, or equivalent).
- Equivalent demonstrable experience will also be considered.
