Role Overview: We are looking for an experienced data centre project manager to oversee and manage multiple external suppliers as they carry out work required for the migration of our transformation away from the Legacy B2B network. Crucially, this includes management of suppliers:
- Physical Site Audit: Physical cable tracing and auditing of the Legacy network estate.
- D-Side Cabling: Survey, installation, labelling and testing of new fibre routes from the new B2B network cross-connect to customer ODFs/street-side fibre routes.
- Pre-Migrate Build: Installation of additional SFPs, patch cables, passive filters and service-specific labelling in the run-up to the migration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day relationships with multiple external suppliers, monitoring performance against the programme plan, contractual KPIs and SLAs.
- Lead regular supplier review meetings, monitoring work in progress, future planned work and RAID registers.
- Identify and escalate supplier underperformance, manage remediation plans and drive continuous improvement across all suppliers.
- Manage supplier invoicing, PO approval and budget reconciliation alongside programme, commercial and financial teams.
- Monitor programme milestones and delivery timescales, managing a programme site and activity tracker with forecasted and actual dates of the completion of individual site life cycle steps across all suppliers.
- Manage internal teams to carry out pre-requisite steps to enable the suppliers to conduct their work. Examples include the creation of work packs for the cabling activity, installation of containment at site to enable the new cabling to be run in and auditing of supplier work to enable payment.
- Ensure suppliers complete and submit accurate deliverables, inclusive of physical site audit outputs and as-built records.
- Feed back suggestions for process/IT tooling improvements to the programme team.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience managing external suppliers or contractors in a telecoms, utilities, or infrastructure setting.
- Strong understanding of network infrastructure, including copper and fibre cabling systems.
- Experience attending or managing physical fibre audits, engineering surveys and installations.
- Ability to interpret technical work packs and cable schedules.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage confidently with both technical and non-technical audiences.
