About the role
Flint Growth Partners Limited engages and pays you directly as a Fractional CFO on a contract basis. Your lead engagement from October is one day a week with a venture-backed technology company in London that has closed several funding rounds, is growing fast and is preparing the next one. You sit at the founder's right hand and report to the board, owning the numbers that will carry the raise. That is the start, not the whole story. The same contract may extend to further Flint engagements across technology, fintech and lending, healthcare, consumer, professional services, franchising and acquisition-led businesses, from pre-launch to established revenue. Take on more of them and the shape rises to as many as five days a week, or hold at one to three days alongside your other clients. One contract with Flint covers all of it, with none of the business development.
Flint is the operational layer for early and growth-stage companies, delivering finance, HR, legal and marketing to an institutional standard on a fixed fee with a single point of accountability. Its founder built and scaled a finance function as CFO of a high-growth software company after careers in private equity and investment banking, and is your sounding board on finance, investor and structuring questions.
The engagement:
- Start: October 2026
- Duration: Initial six months, rolling
- Days: One to five a week. The lead engagement is one day a week, with a mix of office and remote working agreed with the client
- Pay: Competitive day rate or project fee, depending on experience and mandate, paid as a fixed monthly retainer per engagement
- Payment: Monthly by Flint, regardless of when the client pays
- Notice: One month on either side after the first month
- Basis: Contract for services with Flint Growth Partners Limited through your own limited company, with a right of substitution and no obligation to accept further engagements
What you will do:
- Fundraising preparation: The investor-ready model, the data room, the financing options and the narrative behind the numbers, then sitting beside the founder when investors ask the hard questions
- Board and investor reporting: Monthly management packs, KPI dashboards, a fast close and board packs that stand up in diligence
- Forecasting and runway: Driver-led operating models, three-case forecasts with pre-agreed actions, weekly cash forecasts and spend held to plan
- Cash and working capital: Collections, FX, and the true cost of debt facilities against an equity raise
- Lending and deals, where the mandate calls for it: Investor reporting, covenant modelling, acquisition finance, integration and due diligence
- Business partnering: Founders get straight answers on runway, hiring economics and trade-offs, with a Flint controller producing the numbers for your review
Requirements:
- A qualified accountant or equivalent with at least five years in finance including time as CFO, FD or head of finance in a growth company, bootstrapped to scale or backed by investors
- Board and investor-grade interpretation: You can build a driver-led model, design a board pack and give a founder a straight answer on the KPIs that matter
- A completed fundraise on your record is a strong advantage, as is technology or software experience for the lead engagement
- Comfortable with AI tooling so production is fast and your time goes on judgement
- Available from October for at least one day a week, with a mix of office and remote working, so London based or within reach
Benefits:
- The work comes to you: Flint wins the client, sets the scope and holds every fee conversation. You bring the judgement and decide which engagements to take
- No scope creep: Written scope and a fixed monthly cap on every engagement, agreed before you start
- Senior time on senior work: A controller produces, you review, interpret and advise
- Paid on time: Monthly by Flint, on your terms
- Backed, not alone: The CEO of Flint as sounding board and cover
- Variety without the hunt: Several sectors and stages through one contract, with no business development
- A path, not a gig: The CFO who does the lead engagement well is offered the next mandates first and takes on client relationships over time
