We are looking for a consultant to join Flint’s expanding financial services team. At a time of significant political and policy change, successful candidates will have a unique opportunity to support the continuing development of Flint’s business in this area and work on an exciting array of complex policy and regulatory issues for our clients. This will involve working closely with senior team members across Flint to advise clients on public policy, politics, regulation, and commercial strategy with a specific focus on UK financial services.

Flint’s clients want to understand, in detail, how they can build a long‑term strategy to thrive in an evolving policy environment. Our clients include asset managers, banks, financial market infrastructure (FMI) companies, fintechs and other financial institutions as well as alternatives, portfolio companies and corporates. The financial services team works across Flint’s London and our international offices in Brussels, Paris and Hong‑Kong/Singapore with our advice often covering multiple jurisdictions.

As our financial services offering continues to expand across jurisdictions and sectors, you will have the opportunity to help shape its development and growth. As part of the Flint team, you will share insights about key policy challenges, to enable your clients to deliver the best possible outcomes. You will support client accounts to deliver high quality outputs for our clients including monitoring, research, analysis and reports. You will also contribute to business development by researching prospective clients and helping to identify new opportunities for Flint.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Consultants generally come to Flint with c. 18 months-4 years’ work experience. We are looking for candidates with experience working in and around financial services policy, regulation, public affairs or related commercial environments. This may have been gained in government, a regulator, consultancy, think tank, trade association, financial institution or other relevant organisation.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong analytical, research and problem‑solving skills – the ability to draw out the implications of complex evidence and analysis to give clear strategy and policy advice.
  • An ability and enthusiasm to rapidly get up to speed on new issues, with a particular interest in policy and politics.
  • Strong written communication skills, with proven ability to draft clear documents for internal and external audiences with varying degrees of expert knowledge.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex issues to non‑specialists.
  • Strong organisational skills including the ability to balance multiple priorities, provide responsive support to clients and deliver high quality work within tight timeframes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including a flexible approach and the ability to work well across teams, both with internal colleagues and external clients.
