The Litigation Team Leader is responsible for supervising a team of solicitors, legal executives and paralegals in our Debt Recovery department who take on high-value pre-litigated matters, issue claims, advise and progress defended cases, and advise in all aspects of enforcement post judgment. The role focuses largely on day-to-day supervision of the team, overseeing case performance and making recommendations for training and continuous improvements. The role reports directly to the Litigation Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise the day-to-day work and operations of the Debt Recovery Litigation team.
• Work closely with the Debt Recovery Managers and Head of Debts Services on departmental matters, ensuring a smooth process between pre & post-litigation matters.
• Ensure financial targets are met within the team.
• Ensure that all firm-wide and departmental SLAs and procedures are followed.
• Work closely with the team to provide support and guidance to ensure cases are progressing appropriately.
• Run regular file reviews with fee-earners, raise any issues arising and use this as an ongoing developmental tool.
• Produce management information as required by the Debt Recovery Managers.
• Continually upskill personal knowledge of the litigation process and Debt Recovery, become an expert in all matters and share this with the wider team.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Ideally 4+ years PQE (although we will consider applications who demonstrate management experience in a professional services environment)
• Preferably prior debt recovery experience in an energy or utilities setting
• Previous supervisory experience in a recoveries or a legal setting
• Genuine desire and interest in working in a contentious area of the law
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines with your caseloads
