We are looking for an experienced senior Business Development Manager within the professional services sector to work with our Commercial, Licensing, Property, Corporate & Finance and Dispute Resolution teams.
You will be responsible for developing and leading the strategy for securing net new business and building on existing relationships across all practice areas and in all geographies. You will work with the heads of department across the firm, with overall reporting line to the Chief Executive.
Key Responsibilities- Generate new business leads for your area/sector by researching the market.
- Calling agreed targets/potential clients and build relationships.
- Follow up on new business enquiries from various sources, website, lapsed clients, event attendees.
- Design and follow a carefully set business development plan for the commercial departments, in partnership with the Heads of Departments.
- Work to new business targets and KPI’s as set by the CEO and Head of Marketing.
- Analyse existing approaches to the development of business, suggesting changes where appropriate.
- Carry out face to face meetings with key internal decision makers in commercial legal teams.
- Update the CRM system with key BD activities and maintain follow up actions including calls, client visits and Teams meetings where relevant.
- Proactively create opportunities for Heads of Departments and other fee earners to meet and influence key decision-makers at target clients to assist with upselling and cross-selling activities.
- Work with the Marketing team to devise suitable marketing and sales documentation and tools to support new business development activities.
- Attend key events to generate business leads and work in a timely manner to ensure all leads captured are followed up and added to the CRM.
- Provide detailed monthly and quarterly progress reports for the Head of Marketing and CEO on sales opportunities and pipeline activities.
- Provide detailed competitor analysis when requested to support business development focuses.
- Have at least significant experience in a B2B business development or sales representative role, ideally within a professional services environment.
- Have excellent communication skills that can be used effectively at all levels, both internally and externally.
- Be able to demonstrate a successful track record of achieving set KPIs within a BD or sales role.
- Show evidence of winning key clients within previous roles.
- Have a high level of commercial awareness and be able to adapt this to the legal services sector.
- Be self-motivated, well organised and able to multi-task and prioritise own workload.
