Description
We are currently recruiting an experienced Wills, Probate, Tax & Trusts Solicitor to join our Wills, Probate, Tax & Trusts team in the North, working from our York offices and serving clients from the York and surrounding areas. You will have significant experience and PQE and be able to work with minimal supervision and support the Firm’s objective to grow the York office.
This role is responsible for managing a significant caseload of Wills Probate, Tax & Trust matters including high value estate administration.
Responsible for liaising directly with clients and ensuring a high level of client care is provided at all times. You will support more junior team members in their ongoing development and supervise work where required.
You will provide an excellent, client-focused service at all times and a can-do attitude towards assisting members of the team. This role is full-time, based at our offices in York, and reports to the Head of Wills, Probate, Tax & Trusts (North).
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a varied caseload of Wills, Probate, Tax & Trust matters that will include:
- Providing general advice to clients on all aspects of Wills, Probate, Tax & Trust processes;
- Preparing all types of Wills;
- Dealing with high value estate administration;
- Inheritance tax planning;
- Advising on risks of death, divorce or bankruptcy in respect of lifetime gifting;
- Setting up and administering trusts;
- As well as managing a personal caseload of WPTT matters, this role is responsible for supporting on more complex matters alongside senior members of the team;
- Ensure matters are kept up to date in systems and new advancements are communicated to the relevant team members;
- Provide ongoing technical support on matters for more junior fee-earners;
- Ensure appropriate allocation of fee-earning matters to more junior fee-earners;
- Record all time in the Tikit system, including non-billable activities;
- Have an active input in business development efforts for the department and the growth of the York office presence;
- Supports departmental audits as and when required;
- Take on additional tasks as reasonably required by the Head of Wills, Probate, Tax & Trusts (North).
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
You will:
- Be a qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with significant experience running your own Wills, Probate, Tax & Trusts files with minimal supervison.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts to clients and stakeholders.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines.
