As a Senior Case Management Systems Developer, you will be a lead technical resource for the development, configuration and ongoing enhancement of the firm’s case and practice management systems. You will work closely with stakeholders across legal teams, IT and Compliance to improve processes, implement automation, and support the evolution of our technology strategy. This role is ideal for someone with deep technical expertise in P4W and a solid understanding of legal workflows and practice management needs. This is a full‑time permanent position which can be based at our Derby or Leeds offices.

  • Develop IT processes and workflows using Development toolkits.
  • Develop integration and data transfers (including using SQL and SSIS) between client and internal systems.
  • Identify development opportunities to improve IT processes and automation, developing reliable and innovative solutions.
  • Gather, interpret, and translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications as appropriate.
  • Create and maintain application documentation including process diagrams, technical specifications and knowledge bases as required.
  • Work through the entire product lifecycle; from initial requirements gathering, workshops, design, and construction.
  • Collaborate with fee earners, managers, department heads and support services to identify opportunities for system improvement and automation.
  • Provide regular and effective progress updates to ensure the management of delivery risks and alignment with IT standard governance.
  • Mentor junior developers and assist with the provision of technical leadership within the Systems Development Team.
  • Assist with user training and support.
  • Troubleshoot problems.
  • Create and maintain reporting solutions using MS SQL reporting services and other reporting tools.
  • Support the wider IT operations by collaborating with the wider expertise across the IT function to optimise delivery.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Proven experience developing in a Legal Case Management System such as Partner for Windows or similar (eg. LexisNexis Visualfiles, Actionstep, Proclaim, etc.) or Business Process Automation software (eg. SAP, Dynamics, Salesforce).
  • Experience of using scripting languages (eg Python, SQL).
  • Excellent knowledge of SQL and database administration.
  • Experience of creating operational reports using reporting tools such as SSRS and PowerBI.
  • Experience of developing data integrations and data transfer packages.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to stakeholder engagement.
  • Ideally, knowledge of .NET Web APIs (not essential).
