Overview
We are recruiting an experienced Wills, Probate, Tax & Trusts Solicitor to join our North team in Leeds. This permanent full‑time role reports to the Head of Wills, Probate, Tax & Trusts (North) and requires significant experience and PQE. The successful candidate will manage a substantial caseload of Wills, Probate and Tax & Trust matters, including high‑value estate administration, provide high‑level client care, and work with minimal supervision.
The position involves liaising directly with clients, supporting junior team members, and contributing to the firm’s growth of the department.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a varied caseload of Wills, Probate, and Tax & Trust matters, including high‑value estate administration.
- Provide general advice to clients on all aspects of Wills, Probate and Trust processes.
- Prepare all types of Wills.
- Handle high‑value estate administration.
- Provide inheritance tax planning.
- Advise on risks of death, divorce or bankruptcy in respect of lifetime gifting.
- Set up and administer trusts.
- Support complex matters alongside senior members of the team.
- Keep matters up to date in systems and communicate new advancements to relevant team members.
- Provide ongoing technical support to junior fee‑earners.
- Allocate fee‑earning matters to junior fee‑earners appropriately.
- Record all time in the Tikit system, including non‑billable activities.
- Contribute to business development efforts and the growth of the York office presence.
- Assist with departmental audits as required.
- Take on additional tasks as reasonably required by the Head of Wills, Probate, Tax & Trusts (North).
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
We are looking for a candidate who meets the following:
- Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with significant experience running your own Wills, Probate, Tax & Trust files with minimal supervision.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex legal concepts to clients and stakeholders.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
