Transform raw, unscripted footage into one of the most emotionally compelling, narrative-led behind-the-scenes series on YouTube. As the Editor of Behind The Diary, you’ll take hours of raw, documentary-style footage and craft emotionally resonant, story-driven episodes. Your edits will set the tone, pace, and structure - building episodes that hook audiences, deepen community connection, and elevate the IP value of the series.

Responsibilities

  • You’ll shape and structure compelling stories, taking raw or pre-selected footage and building cohesive episodes with a clear narrative arc from the opening hook to the emotional close.
  • You’ll use rhythm, music, pacing, silence, and tension to drive viewer engagement.
  • You’ll collaborate closely with the Lead Filmmaker and Creative Producer, incorporating feedback with speed, clarity, and respect for the story’s emotional core.
  • You won’t just execute, you’ll bring creative ideas to the table to help push the format forward.
  • You’ll apply motion graphics, sound design, dynamic transitions, and branded visuals to elevate the story without overwhelming it.
  • Your final exports will be polished, structured, and ready for YouTube and social distribution.

Competencies

  • You’re a narrative editor at heart. You know how to build compelling stories from unscripted footage and land emotion through structure, timing, and flow.
  • You understand how audiences watch on YouTube and digital platforms cutting with intent for retention, pacing, and engagement.
  • You balance creative freedom with platform discipline.
  • You have solid experience with motion graphics and sound design, using them to enrich the story, not distract from it.
  • You work quickly and precisely, managing feedback loops while maintaining clarity across versions and edits.
  • You’re a strong collaborator. You value creative partnership, can take and give thoughtful feedback, and bring a solutions-focused mindset to every cut.

What Success Looks Like

  • Episodes of Behind The Diary consistently deliver emotional impact, narrative clarity, and strong viewer retention.
  • The show builds a loyal audience by deepening the connection between viewer and brand.
  • Your editing choices directly contribute to performance, IP value, and creative evolution.
  • You become a trusted editorial voice on the series helping to define its tone, pace, and visual language over time.

This Role Is For You If

  • You live in the edit and know how to move people through rhythm, silence, and pacing.
  • You love working with real, unscripted footage the human, high-pressure moments that make stories unforgettable.
  • You’ve cut for YouTube or digital-first formats and understand how editing impacts performance.
  • You bring a filmmaker’s intuition, an editor’s discipline, and a collaborator’s mindset.
