Kettering General Hospital is seeking an experienced Consultant Breast Radiologist to join its established Breast Imaging Service. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a high-performing breast unit that delivers both symptomatic and breast screening services to a population of over 55,000 women. The successful candidate will provide expert breast imaging services, support multidisciplinary breast cancer care, and play a key role in the continued development of the department.

The purpose-built Breast Care Unit provides both screening and symptomatic breast imaging services and consistently achieves NHS Breast Screening Programme performance standards. The service benefits from:

  • Four Oncoplastic Breast Surgeons
  • Seven two-week wait symptomatic clinics per week
  • Two static GE Pristina mammography units
  • Two mobile breast screening units
  • Vacuum-assisted biopsy and excision services
  • Contrast Enhanced Spectral Mammography (CESM)
  • Breast MRI service performing approximately 300 examinations annually
  • Dedicated ultrasound facilities
  • Strong support from Consultant Radiographers and Advanced Practitioner Radiographers
  • Established multidisciplinary breast cancer team

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Consultant-level breast imaging services across screening and symptomatic pathways
  • Undertake mammography, ultrasound, MRI interpretation, and image-guided procedures
  • Support breast MDT discussions and oncology imaging pathways
  • Work collaboratively with surgeons, oncologists, radiographers, and specialist nurses
  • Participate in service development, governance, audit, and quality improvement
  • Support teaching and training of medical students, radiology trainees, and allied healthcare professionals
  • Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate education programmes

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • GMC Registration with Licence to Practise
  • FRCR or equivalent qualification
  • Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register in Radiology (or within six months of CCT)
  • Extensive experience in Breast Imaging
  • Experience working within the NHS
  • Knowledge of NHS Breast Screening Programme standards
  • Strong communication and multidisciplinary teamworking skills

Desirable

  • Teaching and training experience
  • Research and publication activity
  • Service development or leadership experience within Breast Imaging
