I’m recruiting on behalf of an NHS service in North Wales for a Consultant in Adult Psychiatry to work across a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Home Treatment Team (HTT).

If you’re passionate about acute psychiatry and enjoy a mix of intensive inpatient work and intensive community treatment, this role offers genuine clinical variety and leadership opportunity.

The Role

  • 10 PA contract – 7 DCC, 3 SPA (with 1 SPA from home).
  • Clinical leadership as Responsible Clinician for:
    • Patients admitted to PICU (regional service, accepting referrals from other areas).
    • Patients under the HTT, supporting admission avoidance and early discharge.
  • Active role in:
    • Assessment of new admissions, risk assessments and management plans.
    • Regular psychiatric reviews, MDT meetings & collaborative working with Acute Care and Community teams.
    • Clinical supervision of junior doctors, wider clinical staff and medical students.
    • Clinical audit, governance and service development within Acute Care pathways.

Essential Requirements

  • Full GMC registration with licence to practise and:
    • On the Specialist Register in Psychiatry, or within 6 months of CCT.
    • Section 12 approved, or able to achieve within 3 months.
    • MRCPsych or equivalent acceptable to the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
    • Valid UK driving licence.
