- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS is essential.
- National Award for SEN Co-ordination (NASENCO) qualification, or a willingness to complete it within the statutory timeframe.
- Track record as a SENCO or Assistant SENCO, preferably within an alternative provision, PRU, or specialist SEN setting.
- Deep understanding of the SEND Code of Practice, with experience managing and writing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and conducting annual reviews.
- Skills in supporting young people with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), or highly challenging behaviours.
- Strong leadership to manage a team of educators/HLTAs and work effectively alongside parents, external multi-agency support networks, and local authorities.
- A valid right to work in the UK and an Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
