Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Deliver engaging tutoring sessions in line with setting priorities, focusing on core subjects (English, Maths, Science) or specialist SEN/SEND support.
  • Plan and differentiate learning activities to meet complex needs, ensuring reasonable adjustments for learners with SEMH, ASC, or ADHD.
  • Support learners in overcoming barriers to education by building independent learning strategies and confidence.
  • Record detailed session notes and progress updates, communicating outcomes effectively with school staff and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate directly with educational settings to confirm delivery approaches, schedules, and resource requirements.
  • Strictly adhere to safeguarding and compliance policies, escalating any concerns immediately through the appropriate channels.

Requirements

  • Qualifications: PGCE or QTS preferred; a minimum of A-levels in relevant subject specialisms is required.
  • Proven track record tutoring within Alternative Provision (AP) or working extensively with SEN/SEMH learners.
  • Strong knowledge of the Secondary curriculum in your chosen tutoring field.
  • Must have the Right to Work in the UK and a valid Enhanced DBS certificate (or be willing to apply for one).
  • Confidence in delivering both in-person and online sessions with reliable conduct and clear communication skills.
