Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience (Independent School)
About the Role
Flexzo Teach is recruiting an experienced and dedicated Assistant SENDCO / Learning Support Assistant to join a secondary school based in Edgware, North London.
This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate SEND professional looking for a permanent position within a supportive school environment.
The school is seeking someone with previous SENDCO or Assistant SENDCO experience, or substantial experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), who is looking to progress into a SEND leadership role.
This is not a standard Teaching Assistant position. The role combines Assistant SENDCO responsibilities with direct learning support and targeted interventions, making it an ideal opportunity for someone who is confident supporting pupils with additional needs while contributing to the wider SEND provision within the school.
The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff, the SEND team and senior leadership to ensure pupils receive the support they need to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the SENDCO in coordinating and delivering effective SEND provision across the school.
- Provide targeted learning support and interventions for pupils with additional educational needs.
- Work directly with students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups to support their academic progress.
- Assist with identifying, monitoring and reviewing pupils' individual learning needs.
- Collaborate with teachers, SEND staff, Rebbeim and senior leadership to implement appropriate support strategies.
- Help develop and deliver individualised learning plans and interventions.
- Monitor pupil progress and provide constructive feedback to relevant staff.
- Promote an inclusive, positive and supportive learning environment.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of SEND support within the school.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a SENDCO, Assistant SENDCO or substantial experience working with pupils with SEND is essential.
- Experience working within a UK school setting is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of SEND needs, effective interventions and inclusive education.
- Confidence delivering targeted interventions and supporting pupils with a range of learning difficulties.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff, SEND teams and senior leadership.
- Excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive, patient and compassionate approach to supporting pupils.
