We are seeking a Sports & Engagement Mentor who possesses a genuine passion for supporting young people with SEND. For this role, your energy, coaching presence, and ability to build trusting relationships through physical activity are considered just as vital as formal teaching credentials.
Core Requirements:- A strong background or qualification in sports coaching, personal training, boxing instruction, or physical education.
- Proven ability to use sport and exercise as a tool for behaviour management, mentoring, and emotional regulation.
- Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with disengaged, vulnerable, or highly energetic youth.
- Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and an enthusiastic, proactive personality.
- A patient, resilient, and highly adaptable approach to mentoring.
- Confidence working with students displaying a range of additional needs (specifically Autism and ADHD).
- A valid right to work in the UK and an Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
- Experience working within an alternative provision, PRU, youth work, or a pastoral support background.
- Experience running targeted, interest-led sports workshops or boxing-based mentoring programmes.
- An understanding of trauma-informed and relationship-led approaches in a physical activity setting.
- Experience supporting students working towards Functional Skills or GCSEs is advantageous.
- A relevant coaching badge, fitness qualification, or teaching qualification (PGCE/QTS) is a plus.
