The predicted salary is between 72000 - 108000 € per year.

We are recruiting a Locum Consultant in Stroke Medicine for a 12-month post (maternity leave cover) based in Swindon. You will join a friendly, well-established team of 10 senior clinicians within a combined neurology/stroke service, with real scope to help shape and improve stroke care.

The role involves:

  • Hyperacute/acute stroke care, including thrombolysis
  • Rapid access TIA clinics
  • HASU ward rounds and outpatient stroke clinics
  • Teaching, training, and supervision of junior colleagues
  • Audit/QI and clinical governance, with opportunities to develop subspecialty interests

The service includes:

  • 18-bed acute stroke unit (including 4 HASU beds) plus a 15-bed stroke rehabilitation ward
  • Approximately 600 acute stroke patients per year
  • Strong improvement journey, achieving consistent SSNAP Level B performance after significant service investment
  • Active interest in stroke research

Job plan & on-call:

  • 10 PAs total (indicatively 8.5 DCC / 1.5 SPA)
  • Potential to participate in a regional out-of-hours thrombolysis rota (remote)

About Swindon:

Essential requirements:

  • Full GMC registration
  • CCT (or equivalent) in a relevant specialty or within 6 months of CCT at interview
  • Trained/experienced across all aspects of stroke medicine, with ability to lead MDT care and contribute to education and service development
