The predicted salary is between 72000 - 108000 β¬ per year.
We are recruiting a Locum Consultant in Stroke Medicine for a 12-month post (maternity leave cover) based in Swindon. You will join a friendly, well-established team of 10 senior clinicians within a combined neurology/stroke service, with real scope to help shape and improve stroke care.
The role involves:
- Hyperacute/acute stroke care, including thrombolysis
- Rapid access TIA clinics
- HASU ward rounds and outpatient stroke clinics
- Teaching, training, and supervision of junior colleagues
- Audit/QI and clinical governance, with opportunities to develop subspecialty interests
The service includes:
- 18-bed acute stroke unit (including 4 HASU beds) plus a 15-bed stroke rehabilitation ward
- Approximately 600 acute stroke patients per year
- Strong improvement journey, achieving consistent SSNAP Level B performance after significant service investment
- Active interest in stroke research
Job plan & on-call:
- 10 PAs total (indicatively 8.5 DCC / 1.5 SPA)
- Potential to participate in a regional out-of-hours thrombolysis rota (remote)

- Full GMC registration
