The Band 5 Registered Nurse (Scrub Nurse) in Oncology and Haematology plays a vital role in supporting specialist surgical and procedural care for patients undergoing cancer and blood disorder treatments. As a key contributor to clinical excellence in Oxford, the Scrub Nurse ensures safe, effective, and compassionate care while working collaboratively within a complex multidisciplinary environment.
We are currently looking for several nurses that fit this skill set to work in Oxford. Hours can be full time or flexible.
Key Responsibilities:- Deliver safe, effective, high-quality clinical services in oncology and haematology theatres and procedure areas.
- Prepare, scrub and assist for a range of oncological and haematological surgical and interventional procedures.
- Conduct assessments and contribute to patient-centred peri-operative care plans.
- Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to relevant oncology/haematology and theatre guidelines.
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, anaesthetists, oncologists, haematologists, and wider MDT members.
- Support service development, quality improvement, and infection prevention initiatives.
- Participate in training, teaching, and supervision where appropriate.
- Uphold safeguarding, governance, and regulatory standards at all times.
- Relevant professional nursing qualification and current NMC registration.
- Experience in scrub/theatre nursing, ideally within oncology and/or haematology.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities within a multidisciplinary setting.
- Ability to work autonomously, prioritise, and manage busy workloads.
- Commitment to evidence-based, patient-centred, and compassionate cancer care.
- Understanding of clinical governance, risk management, and infection control.
- Professionalism, reliability, and effective problem-solving skills.
