About the Role
We are working in partnership with an NHS Trust to recruit an experienced Nurse Consultant (Band 8b) to provide expert clinical leadership and deliver high-quality, values-based care across services and systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Expert Clinical Practice
- Deliver expert, autonomous clinical care within your professional specialty, managing complex cases and supporting decision-making where standard pathways do not apply.
- Hold responsibility for a defined advanced clinical caseload, typically contributing around 50% of job plan to direct clinical care.
- Act as a recognised clinical expert, providing consultation, advice, and leadership across multidisciplinary teams.
- Ensure high-quality documentation, informed consent, and practice in line with professional, legal, and ethical standards.
- Strategic & Enabling Leadership
- Provide clinical and professional leadership across services, influencing pathways, workforce models, and standards of care.
- Support, supervise, coach, and mentor advanced and consultant-level practitioners, fostering excellence and sustainability.
- Build strong relationships across the Trust, ICS, and national networks to shape service development and innovation.
- Act as an advocate for patients, carers, staff, and the profession.
- Learning, Development & Improvement
- Lead and contribute to education, training, and workforce development locally and nationally.
- Work closely with Higher Education Institutions to influence curricula and support undergraduate and postgraduate education.
- Contribute to appraisal, clinical supervision, and capability development for advanced practice roles.
Person Specification (Summary)
- Current professional registration (NMC / HCPC or relevant regulator)
- Master’s degree (Level 7) relevant to advanced/consultant practice
